There are hundreds of methods, styles, techniques, schools of thought, and trademarked names, yet all fall under one of these four.
Each of the three degrees is made up of seven modules that are based on the seven liberal arts.
THE FOUR LEVELS ARE:
MASTER In this degree advanced skills and deeper understanding is transmitted. The advancements of the new millennium are explored in addition to enriching them by the application of past masters. It focuses on the four skills modalities, utilizing the other six modules for reference and foundation.
Asian: Tuina, Thai massage
Athletic: Rigg’s technique, Cyriax and advanced sports
Energy: Rieki, Ayurvedic
Mind-Body:, Esalen, Hakomi, body-centered psychotherapy, Neo-Riechian, psychoanalytic massage.
Directs and gives insight to all aspects of being a healthy student and practitioner. These skills are applied to our clients as well. Consider this an owner’s guide book to healthy living.
This is the most pervasive in that it illuminates and examines in a chronological format the development of the Art, pathology and the manual treatment of disease.
The Art of massage cannot be transmitted through common colloquial speech. The clear communication of any skill requires a specific nomenclature and taxonomy. This module focuses on the student attaining and using this unique vocabulary. The ability to communicate verbally and in writing is an additional focus.
Assisting the student in becoming an independent business owner is the goal of this module. Legal aspects of business, regulatory boards, and IRS requirements are covered. Marketing, sales, client retention and growing a business is included here.
All traditional classical medicine Arts are taught and demonstrated within this module. In addition to multiple styles within all four modalities of massage, specialty massage, non-pharmacological pain control, physical assessment and extensive training in medical hydrology are included.
07 PROT0COLS
This module is unique in that it does not contain assignments. Here the student is provided with strict structured algorithm covering the conduct of services and operations of a SPA. Physical assessment skills and specific procedures to determine the client’s state of wellness and to aid in the prevention of disease are taught.
Becoming science literate is the goal of this module. It is done without complex formulas, mathematical proofs or abstract ideas. It focuses on provable scientific facts and uses those indisputable truths to disprove pseudo-scientific claims and quackery prevalent in the massage Arts.
